Just completed this, at break neck speed, I might add. A little hurried, but I’m satisfied with the result. The original miniature is made of resin, which I’m not familiar with. There were replication errors, and I broke off so much of the mini in the filing process due to my inexperience with resin, that much of the final ‘conversion’ was actually completely reconstructed from green stuff!
This is by far the largest figurine miniature I’ve painted, utilising many techniques I’ve learnt or developed over several years of my painting experience, albeit as an amateur hobbyist. I’ll be making a simple tutorial post to record what I’ve done.
This miniature represents ‘Aressa’, one of the bigwigs in my new ‘Archangels’ army. I’ll be doing a write-up on her rules later.
OK, that’s all folks. For now.
This is a totally awesome paint job. We should all aspire to be this good.
Holy Freaking MOG! That’s like the most awesome paint job I’ve ever seen! The NMM is incredible – I did a double take when I first saw it. You painted each individual feather on the wing, nice! I’ve seen others try painting this particular model, but none can hold a candle to this! You, sir, are a genius!
So, mind giving out some ‘how to’s?
Thanks for the compliments, people.
Er, what’s ‘MOG’? Is it ‘Mother of G…?’
I’ll be doing a simple post on the methods I used to paint Aressa, later.
I agree with crazypainter93. This is by far the best painting for this miniature out there. The original sculpt is fantastic, and I have been looking for good examples of it painted; most have bad color schemes (too dark or too bright) and generally not doing it justice in the painting department; leading me to the conclusion that this mini is actually quite hard to do right. In fact a proper NMM treatment is probably the only way to bring out the best in the large amounts of plate armor visible – which this piece beautifully managed.
Also I applaud the painted feather effect – most other examples are either all black or all white, which looks terrible because some of the feathers are actually bigger than the head (and speaks to me of ‘lazy’ painting)…
My compliments to you.
There isn’t much I can suggest to improve this piece, except to add a halo, perhaps?
